Dear Amy - DN! staff
This short note is in regard to the current events in Iran and the coverage of the Democracy Now!a
I , like many of your Iranian listeners , are so very disappointed at your coverage , or lack thereof perhaps , of the post-election events in Iran ; it has lacked the usual depth of your reportings by seveal sad degrees.a
One key point is that you have never called the obvious action/reaction by the ruling faction , Ahmadi Nejad and Khamenei et al , for what it really was/is : a coup.a
The evidence that proves the existance of this coup by now amounts to a mountain! I seriously doubt that the staff and researchers have missed
such evidence. Why??!! Hence I am dumbfounded by your absolute silence in this regard.a
Such silence seems several times even more tragic when we and you witness the ongoing extreme brutality of the coup elements , the killings in the streets in broad daylight , the savage beatings of the young and old and even children , assassinations of the demonstators in secluded alleys, dumpings of the bodies , extensive torture in the prisons , rapings of the prisonars , widespread arrests and constant disappearances,
secret burials , and routine abuse of the victims' families , etc, etc, etc.a
All the elements of a classical coup have been in existance except perhaps tanks in the streets and the fact that the new president was just
fresh out of the election! However , these would be wildly poor reasons for missing the elephant in the room. The fact that the people behind this
coup are running it in a seemingly more "elegant" way should not fool anyone , specially you guys!a
Another mountain of evidence missed by DN is in regard to the very obvious fraud commited by the ruling faction. The evidence , both direct and
circumstantial , are in abundance.I do not want to get into the details of this subject here ; you can easily find these out with some research as well as talking to your sources.a
I hope you are not making the mistake shared by many of the Western leftists , and some on the right , in regard to these events. Please don't
automatically assume anything here i.e. do not automatically assume that this is another "color revolution" designed by certain foreign organizations. In fact they are probably involved but they would be behind the Khamenehi's faction not the other way around. Unfortunately many
of the well-intentioned people in the West are so confused and mistaken about the real nature of the ruling regime in Iran and for one thing, they
think that this regime is indeed "independent" ; that is a common myth , a fantasy facade propogated by the regime and it's "enemies"! That is a very sad fact.a
Finally , your coverage of the coup in Iran is has been in sharp contrast to the one in Honduras. That is another irony of your aforementioned coverage.a
Best Wishes
ali
